Ponderings

Ethical code of the Hopi (Indian tribe in the US):

Honor other people’s thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.
Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply when it returns to you.

“Bura jo dekan main chala, bura na miliya koi,  jo dil khoja aapna, to mujse bura na koi!” – Sant Kabir

(“I went in search of the evil one, none did i find, the moment I looked at my own heart, i found none more evil than me.” Sant Kabir) 6

The whole universe is contained within us – a single human being. Everything that we see around, whether we love or hate, is present within us in varying degrees. We need not, therefore, look for the good or the evil outside of ourselves. The devil is not an extraordinary force that attacks from outside. It is an ordinary voice within. It requires courage, honesty and hardness to look at both our bright and dark sides.

I love my boss, I love my job .. I’m self employed!5

Why do we shout in anger?pro2
When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout, to be able to hear each other.

What happens when two people are in love?
They don’t shout at each other but talk softly. Why? Their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small.

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do humans as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run, than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” – Helen Keller

When we encounter challenges, problems, we must crossing overface it on our own and then the mind grows. We bring our own energy to solve them. We must take the reins of our life in our own hands. Do our own thing.

We may be in trouble for this, for it is safer to follow others. It is convenient to follow the society, to follow the routine, the tradition. It is very easy because everybody is following them. We then have just become a dead part of the herd. But our manomaya kosha, i.e, the mental body will suffer as it will not grow. We will not have our own mind and will miss something very beautiful and something that functions as a bridge for higher growth, greater learning and understanding.

Even if there is a possibility to go astray, allow for that, because there is no way to grow if we are so afraid of committing errors. Mistakes are good. They have to be committed. People who become so afraid of committing mistakes never grow. They go on sitting in their place, afraid to move. They are not alive.

If you think your boss is stupid, remember: you wouldn’t have a job if he was any smarter.

fb5Intellect and love are made up differently. Intellect ties people in knots and is cautious always, risking nothing. But love dissolves all tangles and risks everything. Intellect advises, “Beware too much happiness, ecstasy,” and love says, “Oh, never mind! Take the plunge.” Intellect does not give in easily and if need be, then simply breaks down. Whereas love easily melts and lends itself to merge in union.
